We finally finished shopping for fixtures!

We ordered most of our fixtures from Lightingdirect.com, but for the exterior ones, we just went down to the local Home Depot.  We decided to get a lamppost outside and the post comes with an outlet (for Christmas Lights or tools) and a sensor that turns the lights on from dusk to dawn.

The lights that will frame the front door will be the same style.  I think they're so cute!  We also got outdoor motion lights for the front and regular spots for the back.  No pics of those, because they're your typical spot lights, nothing special.

We also received our shipment with the ceiling fan and the closet lights.  The closet lights we got for $8 each!  They have 2 bulbs so they'll give plenty of light.  In order to get them so cheap, we had to be flexible on the color.  They're "Copper Revival" which is actually a little more copper penny colored than in the picture, but who cares? It's going in a closet!

The ceiling fan was our big splurge, but it still wasn't that much.  We really liked the Antique Nickel.  I'm excited to have a ceiling fan.  We don't have one in our house, and sometimes I don't want to use the A/C, I want the nighttime cool breezes.

Front Door Colors

We have to pick a color for the front door. After some googling about feng shui, I found a great list of door colors on House Beautiful .  I really liked Evening Sky (BM 833).  I researched further and found the meaning of a blue door . Although our door doesn't face south, north or east, I really like the thought of a blue door, especially with our stream and the blue dining room. I think the door will tie it all in together.

Color Me Whine!

Egad! We have to pick paint for the entire house. It was hard enough picking the siding color, and that turned out wonderfully. We would blindly ask people what color we should have for the house, and everyone said the same thing "Scottish Thistle". (Mastic Carvedwood 44) WOW! It looks fantastic. I still can't determine what color it is though. Depending on the light and time of day it looks gray, green, brown. It's a camouflage. That's why I like it, it blends in with the woods and does not stick out. We were able to get some trim put on the front windows and on the edging. People forget that a small trim can add a nice finished look to a house.
