kitchen take 2!

Ok, so we told Jim exactly which cabinets we wanted.  I found pictures online that I liked a lot.  Then we started talking and looking at magazines and I decided that I really want white ones!   So we're switching back to white cabinets.  I'm really excited.  I think it is going to look so great!! I'm keeping the stone house paint and the peppercorn island.     Hopefully this will be the last big change.

Kitchen!

When picking out the cabinets for the kitchen, I originally had my heard set on  white cabinets with a dark counter top.  A very classic look that always looks nice.  Every picture I see it looks nice.  BUT, we didn't go that route.  When meeting with the kitchen designer and seeing the white cabinet we could choose from (the one that would be included) we weren't crazy about it. Then I thought about all of the tomato sauce I make and realized that a white kitchen would not last very long with me. I was flipping through one of the booklets and started picturing a kitchen that was reminicent of a Colorado mountain cabin in Telluride.  Warm, cozy, woodsy.  We have such a beautiful property with trees and the stream, I wanted to flow with the natural surroundings.  Can you picture it?  Bring your ugg boots and a pair of mittens.  We can sit on our deck and drink coffee in the morning and read a book.  If you're careful, you might see...

Bathroom ideas

Thanks for the opinions I got on the colors.  We're doing Stone House in the Kitchen, Alaskan Skies in the Family Room, and the Blue in the dining room.  I want to do something bold in the powder room, so I started looking (again) for some inspiration pics. I found some dark bathrooms (1st is from bossycolorblog it's BM Graphite) Keeping with a dark powder room, with a bow, it makes your day feel fancier.   I might just go a tad lighter with Revere Pewter, people rave about this color online and I think it'll give the warmth and clean lines I want, with a little less drama than the graphite.  I will definitely do the graphite in the basement bathroom once we build our movie theater, but I am going to go a little safer right now.

powder room

We NEED help determining the color of the powder room.  It is off the main hallway which will be painted a dark brown called driftwood: These are the other first floor colors that I will choose from. Please vote! stone house newburyport blue windham cream alaskan skies

dining room

Red or Blue? We have a formal dining room that has a chair rail and moldings, tray ceiling and wainscoting.  The big debate now is whether to go with a deep red dining room or a dark blue one.  I originally had my heart set on a red one and then I saw some pictures and fell in love with a deep blue!    So we're going to go with newburyport blue from Benjamin Moore HC-155.    Pic1: courtesy of decorati access                                                 Pic 2: courtesy of country living  The same blue is going into the office after we saw this pic     Pic3:courtesy of Van H. Color Me Whine!

Egad! We have to pick paint for the entire house. It was hard enough picking the siding color, and that turned out wonderfully. We would blindly ask people what color we should have for the house, and everyone said the same thing "Scottish Thistle". (Mastic Carvedwood 44) WOW! It looks fantastic. I still can't determine what color it is though. Depending on the light and time of day it looks gray, green, brown. It's a camouflage. That's why I like it, it blends in with the woods and does not stick out. We were able to get some trim put on the front windows and on the edging. People forget that a small trim can add a nice finished look to a house.
