Baby shower pintrest adventures

My sister is having a baby in November! Last weekend we had the baby shower. It was out doors and lovely. I used my painted mason jars for the centerpieces, with beautiful sunflowers, wheat and other in season flowers from a local market.I got a lot of the ideas from Pintrest. I also made a fall sangria I found on Pintrest. Fall Sangria It was very popular! Sangria makes you feel like you're drinking something really healthy since is has tons of fruit floating in it. Sounds good to me! We had bingo ( a baby shower staple), name the baby food- 2 orange, 2 green and 2 beige so the guests couldn't have figured it out based on color, "the price is right" and how big is the baby belly (with the mom to be's permission of course) For dessert we had de-lish cupcakes! We had cannoli (ang's favorite) and carrot cake (my new favorite) from With Love Bakery. They were amazing! And on the top of each was a hand crafted chocolate! score! With Love Bakery...

Blue jars

Who doesn't love those blue glass bottles and jars? I am trying to paint my own using glass paint and pickle jars. If they come out good, I will upgrade myself to mason jars. Christmas Tree shops have them for either $.99 or $.89 depending on size. Here's my work in progress. Need to wait 24 hours to see how it dries. ----------- Ok the dried a little streaky, and I should have used a little paint thinner. Also, the brushes I originally tried to use were poor quality and the bristles were getting stuck in the jar paint. I ended up using a foam brush which makes things gooier. They will be used for centerpieces, so I'm sure it'll be fine when I fill the jars with water and beautiful flowers.

Cushions for the basement

My first big project using my new seeing machine was to make seat cushions for the basement. I used piping for the trim and bias tape for the tie backs. I have 2 more to make to complete the set!

Working on a new wreath!

I found a really cute wreath for valentines day on Http://www.theidearoom.net/2010/01/valentines-day-craft.html When I tried to get a heart shaped foam wreath form, all the craft stores were all sold out. So I waited until July (ok I forgot about it until I was in the wreath aisle)... and  I made it into my summer craft project! I am so excited about how it came out. It looks softer in real life, so I have to take better pictures, but here is what I have for now. Materials About 2 yards of remnant fabric One bundle of fabric A box of flat head straight pins Heart shaped foam wreath form I cut all the fabric into 4x4 squares, then into 3 inch circles using pinking shears. Folded each circle into quarters and pinned onto wreath. So easy. From start to finish was about 3 hours. If you use thicker fabric, it will probably be quicker.

Master Bedroom

We totally slacked on the bedroom.  Didn't do anything at all. We found out about an Ethan Allen Annual Warehouse sale, and bought a dresser! From there, we were at IKEA and found end tables that match almost identically. The Hemnes nightstand in black-brown Next, I'm going to find similar knobs to those of the dresser and replace the knobs on the ikea stands. Voila! Lastly, we bought a new duvet on sale at west elm. The light blue matches our walls perfectly, which is nice since our walls were a distinct blue.
