This is getting real.... stressful

So we locked in our mortgage rate at the same time keeping fingers crossed that rates do go up and not down, to reassure we made the right decision.  We dropped off the fixtures at the house last weekend, and saw the new stone floors (pics posted soon) in the bathrooms.  The trims are almost all done and we have garage doors!  The front stairs also have the railing installed.  We picked out paint colors thanks to bossycolorblog!  It was so helpful. Once we get colors painted, I'll post pictures of those as well.

Job wise I have had 2 demo lessons at a middle school, a phone interview at a university, another upcoming demo lesson and an interview, I'm hoping to have a bidding war and I get tons and tons of money! (a girl's gotta dream!)  Hopefully by the end of the month I will have the job thing settled. That would definitely alleviate one of the unknowns.   If not, I have to save my pennies so I can commute and pay tolls to work.  I am not looking forward to 1.5 hours each way (minimum).  grrr.  The job market is rough lately for educators (and everyone else)!  I went to the Fairfield Educators Fair (job fair in CT) and there were over 1000 people looking for maybe 50 jobs. It was eye-opening and intimidating!  You really felt like a needle in a haystack wanting to cry out- "Look at me!!"

Front Door Colors

We have to pick a color for the front door. After some googling about feng shui, I found a great list of door colors on House Beautiful .  I really liked Evening Sky (BM 833).  I researched further and found the meaning of a blue door . Although our door doesn't face south, north or east, I really like the thought of a blue door, especially with our stream and the blue dining room. I think the door will tie it all in together.

Slow it down, take it in.

I realized that I need an outlet for my thoughts, ponderings, and frustrations.  I could write them in a journal, but I spent my teen years doing that and it brought back too many angst filled memories. I'm revisiting this blog I started when we moved to our new house as a way for me to share my journey as a woman who is entering the 2nd half of her life. I turned 41 at the beginning of the year am at the stage in my life that I'm having some "midlife" awakenings, wherein I am coming to the realization of my mortality and the precious nature of life. I may write more about this in a future post, but for now, I am trying to find some ways to expand my world yet still manage my day to day. My life is goes from work-home-bed and I, as many of us do, don't set time aside to slow down and take time for myself.  I want to revisit some things I have done over the past 40 years and try to include the things that I think will help me recenter myself, making me more focu
